Jasper Alpuerto PH.D.,
Jasper obtained his bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from the University of the Philippines Los Baños and his Master’s degree in Botany and Plant Pathology from the University of Maine, Orono, Maine, USA.
He has a doctorate degree in Crop, Soil and Environmental Science from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech), Blacksburg, Virginia, USA. He worked as a researcher in the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) in the Wide Hybridization Unit (currently known as Novel Gene Resources (NGR)).
He aims to contribute to crop improvement through utilization of molecular, biochemical, and physiological tools together with advances in genomic technology.
He is currently working as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Hybrid Rice Breeding Program of Texas A&M Agrilife Research in Beaumont, Texas
